I worked in the technology field for over 35 years, from building test equipment for fighter jets, repairing computers and printers to computer system administration. I have even managed house sound and TV broadcasts at my church, but never really considered working for myself.
From 2006 to 2013, my job required extensive travel which was wearing on me, so I decided to go out on my own and start a new computer service company helping senior citizens with their technology issues so I could “eventually” quit my job. In late 2013, I had all the paperwork filed for a new company and unexpectedly, in January 2014 I was laid off due to budget cuts at my current position. It was about a year too early, but what could I do? I needed to do something and fast.
Looking online, my wife found Senior CompuCare who not only offered licensed ownership, but offered marketing help and other resources, and it was exactly what I wanted to do. After speaking to Didier on several occasions and having my questions answered, I joined the Senior Compucare team in early 2014 Going into all this, I thought I would be simply training, troubleshooting and fixing computers, but it has become more than that. There is nothing better than witnessing the positive affects you can have in peoples’ lives. I’ve never had a job that is more rewarding than working with seniors.
